That Time I Ran Through Fire – My Tough Mudder Experiences

A few words on that time I paid money to debase myself. It was a lot of fun! 😀

Mudder of Dragons

Sometimes I leave my house for purposes other than work, groceries, or the movies. This was one of those times. 

Twice, I have run Tough Mudder obstacle courses.

If you aren’t familiar, a Tough Mudder course is 12 miles, with about 25 obstacles. You climb over things (like barrels or giant wooden walls), crawl under things (like barbed wire and electrodes), run through things (like fire and electrodes), and in the races I did in Florida, there was some swimming under things and also some crawling through mud (surprise! more electrodes!). The website makes it look like Navy Seal training and that it would kill lesser humans, but really it’s only as hard as you make it.

Case in point – I can barely run a whole mile. I’m just not a runner. But I am very strong for my size, and have buckets of endurance. I keep pretty active and work…

  1. I love the loosely GoT related title. 🙂 What an achievement, well done! I have some friends who have done it a couple of times, I didn’t think it was this crazy though! It always looks so much fun but I know in reality, whilst I imagine myself as Lara Croft, I’d be flat on my face drowning in gook and waving the white flag just after setting off!

    1. Ha ha, thank you! I used to entertain the fantasy of doing a course dressed as Danaerys, but I’m sure I’d wind up tangled up in a bush or something.
      You should consider signing up for one, you might surprise yourself! 🙂
