As always, thanks for taking the time to visit and read my blog. It means so much to me to know that there are folks literally on the other side of the planet who tune in and now then to see what I’m on about. Thank you for your time! You might have noticed two new pages at the top of the site – these are the first chapters of the first two books that I’ve written. They are high-fantasy novels with some dark fantasy and crime thriller flourishes. Please check them out! And if you have any feedback, I’d love to hear it in the comments at the bottom. I’m working on other changes to my blog to make it more like what the Cool Kids are doing these days. I want to make it more sleek and user-friendly, with more pictures and helpful links and whatnot. If you have any feedback, let me know!

What’s Watchpunk? Is that like The Watchmaker of Filigree Street?
Wow – I would SWEAR I read some blogs that talked about watchpunk as a fantasy subgenre – basically it focuses on the Watch of a fantasy realm.
I thought it was an interesting idea to explore given the current state of policing in the U.S.. I got REALLY into the show The Wire and how it showed both sides of the problem- how the line between ‘soldier’ and ‘civilian’ must remain VERY clear. I thought it would be neat to set those conflicts in a fantasy novel.
And then I found out Terry Pratchett had already done it in the Discworld books LOL.
I just looked up the Watchmaker of Filigree Street – looks like an interesting read!

Jenna I started reading Wilderness but right now my concentration is at the bottom of the barrel. So I will have a better look later. At first glance, you may need some edits – Question: is the white-tiled floor just covered with ferns, mushrooms etc? Or have they crept through broken cracks?
Hi Joanna! Thanks for reading – heh, don’t worry about it, it’ll still be here!
It’s more that the mushrooms have taken root in the heaps of earth – leaves blown in through the centuries have broken down and formed dirt. But I didn’t see it as intrinsic to the plot, just more about setting the scene.

I read every detail, to see the structure etc. that’s me, details. it’s the details which make the whole. you might want to check that paragraph, repetitive use of the word ‘colony’
