Stay Tuned!

I’m still writing every night, and also watching things now that I have internet again. I’m really enjoying Archer, and Sunday was a huge marathon of streaming. I worked my way through:

So far, I’ve dropped about 1200 words on Immortal Beloved. After a few more edits, I’ll be posting that one tomorrow morning. Stay tuned!

In also exciting news, I dropped off my violin bow to be restrung. I’ve been meaning to do it for a while, and after watching a movie with so much emphasis on music and performance, I realized how much I missed playing my violin. I played in Middle and High school (7 years), took private lessons on weekends and even played in a youth symphony, which culminated in a performance onstage at the Kravis Center. I’ll do a bigger write-up later on that.

Technical Difficulties – Please Stand By

But once I replace the router (should be soon!) we’ll be back to our irregular and mostly unscheduled posts. I finally saw The Martian! And I did see Labyrinth in the theater, and it was awesome.

Last week, my wireless router popped its clogs. I still have internet, but have to attach a super-short Ethernet cable to my laptop in order to use it, so I haven’t been watching much except dvds and blu-rays.

This.

The upside is that I have gotten a lot of fiction writing done, reread Stephen King’s Insomnia (not as good as I remembered), and managed to knit a scarf for a friend. And I’ve also just… enjoyed some of that unwinding that forced sabbaticals tend to inflict.

But once I replace the router (should be soon!) we’ll be back to our irregular and mostly unscheduled posts. I finally saw The Martian!  And I did see Labyrinth in the theater, and it was awesome.

I hope you’re having a good week!

Oh, For Heaven’s SAKE…

Some folks in the comments on that post have suggested gender-swapping Jareth and starring someone like Tilda Swinton (SWINTON) or Annie Lennox.

Look, I know a lot of people on the East Coast are having Real World Problems right now due to Winter Storm Jonas. That really sucks, and having myself lived through some hurricanes that caused massive wreckage, my heart goes out to them on this Monday morning. I hope you all make it to work if you can, and if you can’t, may your power be unflagging and your internet connection without lag.

That said, I have to talk about this:

Sorry Everyone, a Labyrinth Reboot is In the Works

I’m not going on a tear about how this is destroying my childhood or whatever. Things change, the center cannot hold, and any thing that generates buzz is considered up for grabs for a remake. I will always have the original. And hey, Guardians of the Galaxy turned out to be a hell of a great surprise, AND they have an actual Henson involved! We shall see.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

GOD I can’t wait to discuss once everyone has seen it.

PLEASE HURRY UP AND SEE IT BECAUSE I CAN’T HOLD ON TO THIS FOREVER.

I have to get up for work in 3.5 hours, so I’ll keep this short and spoiler free –

You had best take a selfie now, because you will LOSE. YOUR. SHIT. permanently and never see it again after.

It’s that good. Perfect blend of original and innovative, emotion and action, style and substance.

GOD I can’t wait to discuss once everyone has seen it.

PLEASE HURRY UP AND SEE IT BECAUSE I CAN’T HOLD ON TO THIS FOREVER.

I will try to get something posted in the next few days, and I will be sure to put it behind a cut to avoid spoilers for folks.

And it feels so good to say this and not have it feel cheap or campy but…

…May the Force be with you.
